Elias Munshya has represented clients in the Alberta Provincial Court, Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Alberta Transportation Safety Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the AISH Appeal Board, and before the Law Society of Alberta (LSA). He has experience in all aspects of personal injury litigation specifically and civil litigation in general. Additionally, his passion for international human rights, has seen him advocate for the respect of the rule of law in countries that include: Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As a passionate post-Africanist, Elias is outspoken about issues affecting  development and advocates for new a philosophical and practical outlook for Africa.

From a background that includes counselling-psychology as well as pastoral ministry, Elias brings to the practice of law a passion to help people resolve legal issues in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.

Originally from Zambia, in Southern Africa, Elias has lived in Calgary, Alberta since 2007. He holds seven earned academic degrees in law, counselling (psychology), business, theology, Christian leadership and divinity. His most recent degree is a Master of Business Administration (in Law), which was obtained in September 2015 from the University of Wales, in Wales, United Kingdom.

Elias is a member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and frequently attends the CBA Section meetings for Civil Litigation, Personal Injury, Wills and Trusts, and Internationally Trained Lawyers sections. For the years 2018 to 2019, Elias will be serving as Co-Chair of the Personal Injury section and the Internationally Trained Lawyers Section. Additionally, he will be serving the Elder Law section as a member-at-large. The Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers (ACTLA) is a great organization bringing together trial lawyers in Alberta, where Elias has been serving on the ACTLA board since 2017.
